Online Harassment by Melissa Calrow's Family and Friends

A couple of weeks ago, someone related to Melissa Calrow, left racist slurs on our late father’s tribute post. She also said, OH WELL, GLAD HE’S DEAD, in addition to calling him a terrorist.

We debated ignoring it, but silence helps no one. This is the reality of being immigrant daughters building something in America.

We get love, but we also face hate. This was not only an attempt to intimidate us as we inch closer to a full blown trial, but it was also motivated by pure hatred.

This person, AnnMarie Calderaro, is a healthcare worker. It’s disturbing that someone who is responsible for taking care of others, especially the elderly, can exhibit so much hate publicly. She has also left vile comments for other women of color, including a child (Kamala Harris’ niece).

We never made the lawsuit personal. Despite Melissa sharing MANY personal details about her life and the Vieira family with us, we never shared any of that information publicly.

That all changes today. AnnMarie went on multiple social media accounts to harass us for over an hour and fifteen minutes, leaving 100+ comments. It was disturbing. Forget how disgusting it is to a grieving family to celebrate anyone's death, but the deep rooted hatred and racism in AnnMarie Calderaro came out of left field. She was in no way involved in this lawsuit, doesn't know us, and has absolutely no business injecting herself into this situation. It's worth noting this is now the SECOND time this woman has come on our social media accounts to harass us.

We handled the first situation with grace and dignity. But it's apparent that Melissa is so desperate to keep the truth from coming out, that she will stop at nothing to silence us. We will not be silent. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
